José Ortiz Moya
José Ortiz Moya was a Spanish comic artist born on 1 September 1932. He is best remembered for his long partnership with writer Antonio Segura, most notably co-creating the post-apocalyptic series *Hombre*. Ortiz entered the comics field in the 1950s, working for Spanish publishers before expanding into the British and American markets. His style was gritty and detailed, well-suited to horror, adventure, and science fiction. He collaborated extensively with Segura on several series, and his work appeared in titles such as *Gespenster Geschichten*, *Victoria*, and *Heroic Adventure Library*. Ortiz also contributed to *Relatos del nuevo mundo* and *TV Action*. He worked as an artist, colorist, and inker on seventeen issues cataloged from 1964 to 1992. Ortiz died on 23 December 2013. His legacy lies in his disciplined craftsmanship and his role in bringing a European sensibility to genre comics, particularly through his collaborations with Segura.
