John Fang
John Ta Chuan Fang was an American businessman, publisher, and writer based in San Francisco, best known in the comic book field for his work as an artist and inker during the mid-1990s. Born on May 27, 1924, Fang passed away on April 27, 1992. His path into comics was not as a lifelong creator but as a later-career contributor; he is credited on 15 issues published between 1995 and 1997, most notably for titles such as *The All New Exiles*, *Bloodstrike*, *Asylum*, *Siren Special*, *Team Youngblood*, and *Ultraverse Unlimited*. His style, while not extensively documented, was part of the energetic, superhero-driven landscape of the era. Fang’s primary legacy, however, lies outside comics: he founded *Chinatown Handy Guide* and *AsianWeek*, establishing himself as a significant figure in San Francisco’s Chinese American community. His comic book work, though brief, places him among the diverse talents who contributed to the 1990s boom in independent superhero publishing.
