Jean-Pierre Dionnet
Jean-Pierre Dionnet was born on 25 November 1947 in France. He is best known as a co-founder of the landmark comics magazine *Métal Hurlant* in 1974, where he also served as editor-in-chief. His path into comics began as a journalist and editor, and he later expanded into television presenting, film production and distribution, and blogging. As a writer, his signature work is *Exterminateur 17*, drawn by Enki Bilal, a key collaborator. He also wrote *Arn* and *Les armées du conquérant*. Dionnet’s style blends science fiction with a sharp, cinematic sensibility, and his editorial vision helped launch the careers of many European artists. He remained active in comics as a writer into the 2020s, with credits spanning 1972 to 2022. His legacy is that of a pivotal figure in French bande dessinée, bridging the worlds of comics, television, and film.
