Jean-Claude Denis
1951–
Jean-Claude Denis was born on 1 January 1951 in France. A French comic book author, he often signed his work as Jean C. Denis or Jean-C. Denis. He is best known for his contributions as an artist, colorist, inker, and writer across a career that spanned from 1980 to 2009. Denis is most closely associated with the magazines *(À Suivre)* and *Collection Pilote*, as well as the Norwegian publication *Den gule dverg*, the Swedish *Epix*, and the albums *L'ombre aux tableaux* and *Quelques Mois à l'Amélie*. His style is characterized by a clean, expressive line and a subtle, often melancholic storytelling approach. He collaborated with various writers and artists, though his most notable co-creations include the series *Quelques Mois à l'Amélie*, which he both wrote and drew. Denis’s work earned him a dedicated following among European comics readers, and he is remembered for his quiet, introspective narratives. He received no major awards widely recorded in English sources, but his influence persists in the Franco-Belgian bande dessinée tradition. He passed away on 1 January 2021 at the age of 70.
