Jamie Smart was born on 21 July 1978 in the United Kingdom. He is a British comic artist and writer best known for his long-running series *Bunny vs Monkey* and the ten-issue series *Bear*. Smart’s path into comics began with contributions to independent anthologies before he found a natural home at *The Phoenix*, the weekly children’s comic where most of his modern work has been serialized. His art style is clean, energetic, and highly expressive, blending slapstick humor with vivid, character-driven storytelling. Over his career, he has worked as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on more than forty issues, with his most credited titles including *Bunny vs Monkey*, *Looshkin*, and *Ubu Bubu*. He also contributed to *The Dandy Presents: Desperate Dan* and *The Dandy Summer Special*, keeping classic British comic traditions alive. Smart’s key collaborator has been the *Phoenix* editorial team, which helped shape his signature blend of absurdity and heart. He has received multiple awards for his children’s comics, including the British Comic Awards’ Young People’s Comic Award. His work remains widely read in print and digital formats, and he continues to create new stories for *The Phoenix*, maintaining a steady presence in British comics from the late 2000s through the 2020s.
