Izumi Tsubaki

Izumi Tsubaki (born December 11) is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the long-running shōjo comedy *Oresama Teacher* and the popular meta-humor series *Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun*. She entered the industry after placing third in a manga contest, which led to an editor approaching her. Tsubaki has cited *Yu Yu Hakusho* creator Yoshihiro Togashi and her sister, also a manga artist, as major inspirations. Her work is characterized by sharp comedic timing, expressive character art, and a fondness for parodying shōjo and shōnen tropes. She is credited as artist and inker on 11 issues between 2009 and 2019, with her most recognized titles being *Oresama Teacher* and *The Magic Touch*. *Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun* was adapted into a well-received anime in 2014, expanding her international audience. Tsubaki’s later work continues to blend romance and satire, and she remains active in the industry.
