Izumi Tsubaki
Izumi Tsubaki (born December 11) is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the long-running shōjo comedy *Oresama Teacher* and the popular meta-humor series *Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun*. She entered the industry after placing third in a manga contest, which led to an editor approaching her. Tsubaki has cited *Yu Yu Hakusho* creator Yoshihiro Togashi and her sister, also a manga artist, as major inspirations. Her work is characterized by sharp comedic timing, expressive character art, and a fondness for parodying shōjo and shōnen tropes. She is credited as artist and inker on 11 issues between 2009 and 2019, with her most recognized titles being *Oresama Teacher* and *The Magic Touch*. *Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun* was adapted into a well-received anime in 2014, expanding her international audience. Tsubaki’s later work continues to blend romance and satire, and she remains active in the industry. While she has not received major industry awards, her series have maintained strong readership and critical praise for their clever writing and distinctive visual style.
