Igort
Igort, born Igor Tuveri on September 26, 1958, in Italy, is a versatile Italian comics artist, illustrator, scriptwriter, and film director. He is best known for his distinctive, atmospheric graphic novels that blend personal narrative with political and cultural reportage. His path into comics began in the 1970s, contributing to alternative and avant-garde publications before gaining international recognition. His signature style combines clean, expressive linework with a moody, cinematic use of color and shadow, often exploring themes of memory, identity, and social upheaval. He collaborated with writers and artists across Europe, notably on the series *Kollektion Ignatz* and the crime-noir *5 ist die perfekte Zahl* (5 Is the Perfect Number). Among his most significant co-creations are the graphic reportage works *Berichte aus der Ukraine* (Reports from Ukraine) and *Berichte aus Japan* (Reports from Japan), which document real-world events with a deeply personal lens. He also contributed to *Baobab* and *Fats Waller*. In later years, he expanded into film direction. Igort’s work has earned him major awards, including the prestigious Gran Guinigi and the Micheluzzi Prize, solidifying his legacy as a key figure in European comics.
