Ian Carney
Ian Carney is a British writer known for his work in both comics and children's animation. Born in Liverpool, Merseyside, he began writing comics in the 1980s for UK publisher Fleetway Editions and US publishers First Comics and Dark Horse Comics. Carney is best known as co-creator, with artist Woodrow Phoenix, of the humorous anthology *SugarBuzz* for Slave Labor Graphics. The series featured a large cast of characters, the most popular being Pants Ant, who later appeared in a Cartoon Network animated short, and the spin-off *Where's It At, Sugar Kat?*, which was optioned for film and TV by Disney. He also created *Axis Mundi* with Garry Marshall, *Randy the Skeleton* with Aidan Potts, and *A Bagful of Anteaters* with Jonathan Edwards. Carney later shifted primarily to animation writing for British children’s television, contributing to series such as *Shaun the Sheep*, *Bob the Builder*, *The Octonauts*, and *Chuggington*. He was co-creator and head writer on the European series *Commander Clark* and head writer of *Angry Birds Toons*. In 2010, an episode of *Shaun the Sheep* he wrote won an Emmy Award.
