Horacio Altuna
1941–
Horacio Altuna, born November 24, 1941, in Argentina, is a comics artist best known for his long career as a storyteller in both Argentine and European comics. He began his professional work in the late 1960s, and his most celebrated period came through his collaborations with writer Carlos Trillo. Together, they created the acclaimed series *El Loco Chávez* and *Las Puertitas del Sr. López*, which earned him a reputation for sharp social satire and psychological depth. Altuna’s style is marked by clean, expressive linework and a keen eye for composition, often blending realistic detail with a touch of surrealism. In the 1980s, he moved to Spain, where he expanded into erotic and adult-themed work, including contributions to *Playboy* and the series *Voyeur*. His later projects, such as *Tung Metall* and *Chancen*, continued to showcase his versatility as both artist and writer. Altuna’s influence is felt across generations of Latin American and European cartoonists, and his work has been collected in volumes like *Cosmo Comics Deluxe: ALTUNA*. He remains active, with credits spanning from 1967 to 2021, and is recognized as a key figure in the modern era of Argentine comics.
