Hiroyuki Asada was born on February 15, 1968, in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. He is best known as the creator of the gaslamp fantasy series *Tegami Bachi* (also released in English as *Letter Bee*), which follows a young mail carrier in a dark, sprawling world. Asada made his professional debut in 1986, and his early works—including *Mint: Sleeping Rabbit* and *Renka*—earned him a dedicated following. His first serialized manga was *I'll*, a basketball series that further boosted his popularity. All of his major series were originally published in *Monthly Shōnen Jump* and later in its successor, *Jump Square*.
