Hiromu Arakawa

Hiromu Arakawa was born on May 8, 1973, in Hokkaido, Japan. She is best known as the creator of the internationally acclaimed manga *Fullmetal Alchemist* (2001–2010), a series that became a global phenomenon and spawned two anime adaptations. Arakawa grew up on a dairy farm, an experience that later informed the rural setting of her series *Silver Spoon* (2011–2019). She began her career in manga after working as a farmer and taking art classes, making her debut in 1999. Her signature style blends detailed, expressive character art with intricate world-building and a strong sense of moral complexity. In addition to *Fullmetal Alchemist*, she is noted for adapting *The Heroic Legend of Arslan* (since 2013) and creating *Daemons of the Shadow Realm* (since 2021).
