Guillermo Saccomanno, born in 1948 in the Mataderos district of Buenos Aires, is an Argentine writer whose comics work spans four decades. He is best known for his long-running collaboration with artist Alberto Breccia on the series *El sueñero*, a surreal and politically charged strip that ran in the magazine *Fierro* in the 1980s. Saccomanno’s path into comics began in the 1970s, writing for Italian and Argentine anthologies like *Lanciostory*, *Skorpio*, and *Creepy*, where his scripts often explored dark, psychological themes. He also contributed to *I giganti dell'avventura*, *X9 Spesial*, and *Legione Straniera*. His style is marked by a literary, often satirical voice, and he frequently worked with artists such as Breccia and José Muñoz. Among his notable co-creations is the graphic novel *La novela de la guerra* (with Breccia), a stark depiction of the Falklands War. Later in life, Saccomanno turned primarily to prose fiction, winning the prestigious Premio Nacional de Literatura in 1998 for his novel *La lengua del malón*. He remains a respected figure in Argentine letters, with his comics work recognized for its narrative depth and social commentary.
