Giovanni Romanini was an Italian comic artist and cartoonist, best known for his long collaboration with the celebrated creator Magnus (Roberto Raviola). Born in Bologna on 27 December 1945, he passed away in the same city on 20 March 2020. Romanini entered the comics field in the late 1960s, and his partnership with Magnus proved the defining thread of his career. Together, they worked on numerous series, most prominently *Alan Ford*, *Kriminal*, and the historical adventure *La Compagnia della Forca*. Romanini’s clean, expressive linework and strong storytelling made him a vital contributor to these titles, often handling art, inks, and colors. He also collaborated with Magnus on the collection *Magnus Schegge* and the series *Wallestein*. Over a career spanning more than five decades—from 1969 into the 2020s—Romanini left a deep mark on Italian comics, though his work remains less known internationally. His legacy is that of a skilled, reliable craftsman who helped bring some of Italy’s most distinctive comic characters to life.
