Gallieno Ferri was an Italian comic book artist and illustrator, best known as the co-creator and definitive visual architect of the long-running adventure series *Zagor*. He was born in Genoa on 21 March 1929 and died on 2 April 2016. Ferri entered the comics field in the early 1950s, but his career-defining moment came in 1960 when he met writer Sergio Bonelli. Together they created *Zagor*, a character Ferri would illustrate from the very first issue, also providing every cover for the regular series. His style—dynamic, expressive, and rooted in classic adventure storytelling—defined the look of the strip for decades. Ferri also contributed significantly to Bonelli’s other major series, *Mister No*, drawing the first two issues and designing covers for the first 115. Beyond these flagship titles, he created several other characters, including Maskar, Thunder Jack, Jim Puma, and Capitan Walte. His catalog of credits spans over 80 issues across titles such as *Zagor Gigante*, *Speciale Cico*, and *Rocky*. Ferri’s legacy rests on his foundational role in shaping the visual identity of Italian adventure comics, and his work remains a touchstone for the genre.
