Frank Godwin was an American illustrator and comic strip artist best known for his long-running newspaper strip *Connie* and his richly detailed book illustrations for classics like *Treasure Island*, *Kidnapped*, *Robinson Crusoe*, *Robin Hood*, and *King Arthur*. He was born Francis Godwin on October 20, 1889, and passed away on August 5, 1959.
Godwin began his career as a prolific editorial and advertising illustrator before moving into comics. His signature style combined a strong, clear line with a keen eye for period detail and graceful figure work, particularly in his depictions of women and adventure scenes. His most notable co-creation was *Connie*, a stylish adventure strip that showcased his artistic strengths. While he worked across multiple genres, his contributions to comic books included work for titles such as *Sensation Comics*, *Famous Funnies*, and *Four Color*, and his art appeared in *Wonder Woman Archives*. He was also a credited artist, inker, letterer, and writer on dozens of issues from the 1910s onward.
