Everette Hartsoe

Everette Hartsoe is best known as the creator, writer, and artist behind the 1990s comic book character Razor, a vigilante antiheroine who debuted in *Razor* #1 in October 1992 through his own London Night Studios. Born in the United States, Hartsoe entered the comics industry during the early 1990s boom, self-publishing his flagship title and building a small but dedicated readership. His signature style combined gritty, high-contrast black-and-white artwork with a dark, violent sensibility that echoed the era's trend toward extreme, cinematic storytelling. Hartsoe handled nearly every aspect of production—writing, penciling, inking, coloring, and lettering—across 58 issues from 1992 to 1999, with his most credited series including *Razor: Uncut*, *Razor*, *Poizon*, *Razor: Torture*, *Lethal Strike* (also spelled *Lethal Stryke*), and *Razor: Burn*. While he worked without a major collaborator on his core titles, his co-creation of the Razor character—a leather-clad, sword-wielding avenger—cemented his place in the independent comics landscape of the decade. After his active period ended in the late 1990s, Hartsoe largely stepped away from regular publishing, but Razor remained a cult figure among fans of 1990s indie comics. He did not receive major industry awards, but his work exemplified the self-publishing ethos of the era.
