Dupa
1945–2000
Luc Dupanloup, known to readers worldwide as Dupa, created the beloved comic strip *Cubitus*, which later inspired the animated series *Wowser*. Born on 12 February 1945 in Montignies-sur-Sambre, Belgium, he passed away on 8 November 2000 in Ottignies. Dupa began his comics career in the late 1960s, working as an artist, colorist, inker, and writer across 60 issues through 2003. His most frequent credits appear in *Cubitus*, *Zoom*, *Collection Vedette*, *Zack Parade*, *Le Journal de Tintin*, and *Tegneseriebokklubben*. His signature style blended clean, expressive linework with gentle humor, often collaborating with writers and editors at these publications. Dupa’s most notable co-creation remains the long-running *Cubitus* series, which introduced a lovable, anthropomorphic dog whose adventures resonated with European audiences. His work left a lasting imprint on Belgian comics, though major awards are not recorded in available sources. Today, Dupa is remembered for his warm, accessible storytelling and for bringing a cheerful canine character to life across decades of publication.
