Domingo Mandrafina
Domingo Roberto Mandrafina, often called Cacho, was born on November 2, 1945, in Argentina. He is best known as a comics artist whose meticulous, expressive linework and atmospheric storytelling defined Argentine adventure comics for decades. Mandrafina entered the field in the early 1970s, quickly becoming a fixture of the Italian-Argentine publishing scene. His most celebrated work came through collaborations with writer Carlos Trillo, with whom he co-created the acclaimed series *Spaghetti Bros.*, a gritty, character-driven western. Mandrafina’s style—detailed, shadowy, and cinematic—made him a perfect fit for the adventure and fantasy stories that filled magazines like *Lanciostory*, *Skorpio*, and *Euracomix*. He also contributed to the epic series *Dragger* and the anthology *I giganti dell'avventura*. Over a career spanning from 1972 to 2020, he was credited as artist, colorist, and inker on nearly 100 issues. His later years saw continued respect from peers and a devoted readership, though major mainstream awards largely eluded him. Mandrafina’s legacy endures as a master of the Argentine comic tradition, his work a benchmark for visual storytelling in the adventure genre.
