Dino Attanasio
1925–2026
Edoardo Attanasio — known professionally as Dino Attanasio — was an Italian-born Belgian comics artist, inker, and writer whose career stretched across an extraordinary seven decades. Born on 8 May 1925, he lived to the remarkable age of 100, passing away on 17 January 2026.
Attanasio made his home and his name in Belgium, becoming a fixture of the Franco-Belgian comics tradition. His work appeared regularly in some of the most respected periodicals of the form, including *Le Journal de Tintin*, as well as Dutch-market publications such as *Pep* and *Eppo*. Among his most sustained creative contributions was the series *Spaghetti* and the title *Johnny Goodbye*, which helped define his range — spanning humor, adventure, and genre storytelling with equal confidence.
Active in the industry from 1954 through to 2025, he brought a fluid, versatile draftsmanship to his pages that suited both comedic timing and narrative momentum. His output across nearly 200 credited issues reflects not just longevity but genuine consistency of craft.
While Attanasio never achieved the same household recognition as some of his Belgian contemporaries, his contributions to the European comics ecosystem were substantial and enduring, and his career stands as one of the longest on record in the medium.
