Diana Schutz
Diana Schutz, born February 1, 1955, in Canada, is best known as the editor-in-chief of Comico during its 1980s heyday and for a 25-year editorial tenure at Dark Horse Comics. She began her career in the 1980s, becoming a key figure behind acclaimed works including Frank Miller's *Sin City* and *300*, Matt Wagner's *Grendel*, Stan Sakai's *Usagi Yojimbo*, and Paul Chadwick's *Concrete*. Beyond editing, Schutz also wrote for comics, scripting issues of *Jonny Quest*, *Usagi Yojimbo*, *The Nevermen*, and *Robotech: The Macross Saga*, as well as *Grendel: Devil Child* and *Division 13* from 1986 through 2018. She was affectionately known to her letter-column readers as "Auntie Dydie." After her long run at Dark Horse, she taught comics history and criticism as an adjunct instructor at Portland Community College. Her legacy is that of a steady editorial hand who helped shape some of the most distinctive independent comics of the late 20th century.
