Daisuke Moriyama
1971–
Daisuke Moriyama, born September 11, 1971, is a Japanese manga artist best known as the creator of the supernatural action series *Chrono Crusade*. That series, which he wrote and illustrated, ran from 1998 to 2004 and was adapted into a 24-episode anime by Studio Gonzo. Moriyama’s work on *Chrono Crusade* earned him a dedicated readership for its blend of 1920s New York setting, demon-hunting nuns, and emotional character drama. He later created *World Embryo*, a science-fiction and horror series serialized in *Young King OURs* from 2005 to 2014. Moriyama’s art style is marked by clean, expressive linework and a talent for balancing action with quieter, character-driven moments. He has occasionally contributed to English-language comics as an artist and inker, with credits on 11 issues between 2004 and 2007, primarily for *Chrono Crusade* related material. While he has not received major industry awards, his work remains respected for its atmospheric storytelling and strong visual design. Moriyama continues to be active in the manga industry, though he maintains a relatively low public profile.
