Daerick Gröss

Daerick Gröss, born Richard Gröss on January 28, 1947, was an American illustrator, writer, editor, and art director whose career spanned from the late 1980s into the 2010s. He is best known for his work in the 1990s at major publishers including Marvel, DC, Chaos!, Image, and Innovation Publishing. Gröss’s signature style blended detailed linework with a flair for horror and fantasy, often seen in titles like *Murciélaga She-Bat*, *Necroscope*, and *Robo Warriors*. He also contributed to adaptations of *Forbidden Planet* and *Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat*, as well as *Tales of the Kung-Fu Warriors*. Later in his career, he founded Studio G alongside his son, Dærick Gröss, and served as visual editor at inDELible Comics and art director at ACP Comics. Gröss passed away on December 8, 2023. His legacy endures through his prolific contributions to independent and licensed comics, where he left a mark as both a creator and a mentor.
