Chantal De Spiegeleer
Chantal De Spiegeleer, born 15 April 1957 in Belgium, was a comic book author and artist best known for her work on the *Blake and Mortimer* series and the historical adventure *Adler*. She began her career in the late 1980s, contributing as an artist, colorist, inker, and writer across 16 issues between 1987 and 2022. Her style was clean and narrative-driven, suited to the classic Franco-Belgian tradition, and she collaborated closely with writers like Jean-Pierre Pécau on *Madila* and *Adler*, where her detailed linework brought historical settings to life. She co-created the series *Madila* with Pécau, a fantasy tale set in a mythical Africa. Later in her career, she contributed to the continuation of the *Blake and Mortimer* saga, a series she had long admired. De Spiegeleer passed away on 15 February 2025, leaving a legacy as a versatile creator who worked across multiple roles in the industry. She received no major awards during her lifetime, but her steady contributions to European adventure comics remain respected by fans and peers.
