Catherine "Cat" Yronwode was born Catherine Anna Manfredi on May 12, 1947. She is best known in comics as a versatile writer, editor, and designer who brought a sharp, independent sensibility to independent and mainstream titles alike, particularly during the 1980s. Her path into the industry began in the late 1970s, and she quickly became a key figure at Eclipse Comics, where she edited and wrote for a range of series. Her signature work includes *Scout: War Shaman*, *The Spirit*, *Valkyrie!*, *Aztec Ace*, and *Alien Encounters*, as well as a run on *Robin Hood*.
