Buichi Terasawa was a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the sci-fi adventures *Cobra* and *Goku Midnight Eye*. Born on March 30, 1955, in Japan, he began his career in the late 1970s, quickly establishing a distinctive style that blended sleek, cinematic storytelling with bold, dynamic linework. His most famous work, *Cobra*, a space-faring crime thriller, became a long-running hit and was adapted into an anime film and television series. Terasawa often collaborated with editors and publishers at Shueisha, but his singular vision defined his projects. He co-created the cyberpunk detective series *Goku Midnight Eye*, which showcased his flair for futuristic noir. In the 1990s and early 2000s, his work appeared in English translations, including *Cobra*, *Midnight Eye: Gokü Private Investigator*, *Cobra - Space Adventure*, *Chirality*, and *Goku: Midnight Eye*. Terasawa’s later years saw him continue to produce manga and oversee re-releases of his classic titles. He passed away on September 8, 2023, leaving a legacy as a pioneer of sci-fi manga. His contributions earned him a dedicated fanbase and recognition within the industry, though major formal awards were not widely documented in his career.
