Brett Matthews
Brett Matthews is an American writer who has worked across both comics and television. He was born in the United States. Matthews entered the comic book industry in 2001, and his most active period ran through 2018, during which he wrote 42 issues. He is best known for his work on *The Lone Ranger*, *Spider-Man & Wolverine*, *Angel*, and the *Firefly* universe. Matthews co-wrote the *Serenity: Better Days* miniseries, which earned a Hugo Award nomination in the Graphic Story category. He also received a Hugo nomination for his script for the television episode "Heart of Gold." His writing style often blends character-driven drama with action, and he has collaborated with artists such as John Cassaday and J. Michael Straczynski. Matthews’ contributions to the *Firefly* franchise helped expand Joss Whedon’s space-western world beyond the screen, and his run on *The Lone Ranger* for Dynamite Entertainment is considered a definitive modern take on the character. His later work includes the *Firefly Legacy Edition* collections.
