Bogusław Polch
1941–2020
Bogusław Polch (5 October 1941 – 2 January 2020) was a Polish comic book artist best known for his work on three landmark series: *The Gods from Outer Space* (based on Erich von Däniken's theories, with writers Arnold Mostowicz and Alfred Górny), *Funky Koval* (with Maciej Parowski and Jacek Rodek), and *Wiedźmin* (the comic adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher stories, again with Parowski). He also painted the covers for the first editions of most of Sapkowski's Witcher novels. Born in Poland, Polch began his comics career in 1971 and remained active through 2003, contributing to over thirty issues. His most credited title was the long-running police series *Kapitan Żbik*, but his clean, dynamic linework and adventurous storytelling made him a defining artist of Polish science fiction and fantasy comics. He collaborated closely with writer Maciej Parowski on multiple projects, including the *Funky Koval* and *Wiedźmin* adaptations. Polch's later years saw continued recognition for his foundational role in Polish comics, though details of major awards remain unrecorded in available sources. His legacy endures as a key visual architect of the Witcher universe before its global fame.
