Bo Hampton
Bo Hampton was born in 1954 in North Carolina. He is an American comic book and cartoon artist, and the older brother of fellow comics creator Scott Hampton. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he studied under Will Eisner and Al Williamson, Hampton worked as Eisner’s studio assistant. For fifteen years, he drew, wrote, and painted comics and graphic novels with a strong bent toward realism, a style then uncommon in the medium. Notable works from that period include *Viking Glory*, a 96-page graphic novel for DC Comics; *The Legend of Sleepy Hollow* for Tundra Publishing; and *Verdilak*, a horror story he co-wrote and painted for NBM Publishing.
Hampton spent a year as a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design, helping develop the original incarnation of their Sequential Arts program. He then moved into storyboarding for animated shows and television commercials, creating one of the most popular UK adverts of all time, “Smash Means Mash.” His animation credits include *Extreme Ghostbusters* for Sony, and *Superman* and *Batman* for Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network. He also provided live storyboard work for commercial clients such as Papa John’s Pizza, Coca-Cola, and Motorola, working with ad agencies across the United States.
