Bastiaan Geleijnse

Bastiaan Geleijnse was born on 8 March 1967 in Utrecht, Netherlands, and is best known as the Dutch cartoonist and co-creator of the long-running comic strip *Fokke & Sukke*. Before entering the comics world, he worked as a Communications Specialist at McKinsey & Company's Amsterdam office from 1997 to 2003. Alongside John Reid and Jean-Marc van Tol, Geleijnse launched *Fokke & Sukke*, a satirical strip that became a fixture in Dutch media, often lampooning politics, culture, and everyday life. The trio’s work earned them the prestigious Stripschapprijs in 2004, the highest Dutch comics award. Geleijnse’s signature style blends sharp, observational humor with simple, expressive linework, and his collaborations with Reid and van Tol have produced numerous collections, including *De historische canon van Fokke & Sukke* and annual compilations such as *Het afzien van 2006*, *2011*, and *2024*. He has also contributed to *Donald* and other titles. Active from 1997 into the 2020s, Geleijnse remains a key figure in Dutch cartooning, with his work celebrated for its wit and cultural commentary. His legacy is tied to the enduring popularity of *Fokke & Sukke*, which continues to resonate with readers.
