Art Holcomb
Art Holcomb was born on December 31, 1955, in the United States. He began his writing career unusually early: at age 13, his play *The Birnbaum Guide to Hell on Five Dollars a Day* was professionally staged by the American Conservatory Theater. After publishing poetry, essays, and short stories, he moved into comics, writing more than 50 stories for franchises including *X-Men*, as well as original and licensed properties for Defiant Comics, Valiant Comics, Acclaim, Big Entertainment, Funimation, Marvel Comics, and DC Comics. His most credited comic work appeared between 1994 and 1998, notably on *Dogs of War*, *Magic: The Gathering -- Elder Dragons*, and several *Eternal Warriors* titles. Holcomb also wrote for television, with screen credits on UPN, the Sci-Fi Channel, and the Showtime Channel. He is co-founder and editor-in-chief of Andromedia Entertainment, a creative development firm that adapts screenplays into graphic novels, producing some of the earliest examples of illustrated screenplays. His career reflects a steady, versatile presence across media rather than a single defining blockbuster, and his contributions to comics remain respected for their craft and range.
