Arnold Pander (born June 16, 1967) is an American comic book artist, writer, and filmmaker, best known for his collaborative work with his brother Jacob as the Pander Brothers. The duo gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s for their distinctive, moody artwork on Matt Wagner's *Grendel* series, particularly *Grendel: Devil's Legacy*, which remains a signature achievement. Their style—marked by expressive linework, atmospheric shadows, and a cinematic sense of composition—also defined runs on *Batman: City of Light* and *The Batman Chronicles*, as well as the creator-owned series *Girlfiend*. Arnold often handled inking and writing duties alongside Jacob, with key collaborators including Wagner and writer Mike Baron on *The Badger*. Beyond comics, the brothers ventured into filmmaking. Active in the industry from 1986 to 2006, Arnold Pander contributed to over 35 issues across titles such as *Triple X*, *Grendel: Black, White, and Red*, and *San Diego Comic Con Comics*. While the Panders did not receive major individual awards, their work on *Grendel* earned a devoted following and influenced the visual direction of independent comics in the 1990s. Arnold Pander’s legacy remains tied to that brotherly partnership, which brought a painterly, noir-infused sensibility to superhero and alternative comics alike.
