Anders Bjørgaard was a Norwegian illustrator best known as the artist behind the long-running comic strip *Jens von Bustenskjold*, which he co-created with writer Sigurd Lybeck. Born on 18 March 1891 in Norway, he began his career in illustration before moving into comics. The strip debuted in 1934 in *Arbeidermagasinet* (later *Magasinet for Alle*) and ran until 1970, outliving Bjørgaard himself. His clean, expressive linework and knack for visual comedy made the series a staple of Norwegian popular culture. Over his career, he was credited as artist and inker on some 90 issues, with his most frequent credits appearing in *Jens von Bustenskjold*, *Magasinet for Alle*, and *Magasinet*. Bjørgaard’s collaboration with Lybeck produced one of Norway’s most beloved comic creations, a humorous saga of a bumbling aristocrat that captured readers for decades. He died on 20 March 1967, just two days after his 76th birthday. In 1970, a memorial was raised in his honor. Though he never received major international awards, his work remains a cornerstone of Norwegian comic history, celebrated for its enduring charm and wit.
