1927–2022
Alarico Gattia was an Italian comic artist and illustrator, best known for his work on historical and adventure series during the 1970s and 1980s. Born on 9 December 1927 in Italy, he began his comics career later in life, with his credited output spanning from 1974 to 1992. Gattia contributed as an artist, colorist, inker, and writer across 18 issues, with his most recognized titles including *Das Leben Don Boscos*, *Een man - Een avontuur*, and *De laatste der Mohikanen*. His style was rooted in clear, narrative-driven illustration, often bringing classic literature and biographical stories to life with a European comic tradition. He collaborated with various European publishers, though specific partners are not widely recorded. Gattia’s work on *Den sidste mohikaner* and *Århundreders eventyrere* further showcased his affinity for adapting adventure tales. He passed away on 3 September 2022, leaving behind a modest but dedicated body of work that reflects the post-war Italian comic scene. While he did not receive major awards or widespread fame, his contributions remain appreciated by collectors and historians of European adventure comics.
