Alain Voss (29 April 1946 – 13 May 2011), also known as Al Voss, was a French-Brazilian comics artist whose work bridged European and South American sensibilities. Born in France, he eventually settled in Brazil, where he became a distinctive presence in the underground and alternative comics scenes of the 1970s and 1980s. Voss is best remembered for his contributions to *Métal Hurlant* and the Portuguese-language *Titanic stripmagazine*, as well as for his work on *Heilmann*, *Jornal da B.D.*, *l'arbre à came*, and *Pox Special*. His style—often dark, surreal, and meticulously detailed—made him a natural fit for the speculative and satirical material favored by those publications. Over a decade-long active period from 1978 to 1988, he served as artist, colorist, inker, and occasionally writer on fourteen recorded issues. While he never achieved the broad fame of some of his peers, Voss left a mark on the Franco-Brazilian comics dialogue, influencing later generations of artists who admired his atmospheric linework and narrative risk-taking. He died in 2011 at age 65.
