Akihisa Ikeda
Akihisa Ikeda, born October 25, 1976, is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the supernatural romantic comedy series *Rosario + Vampire*. He made his mark in the pages of *Shonen Jump*, where the series ran from 2004 to 2014, spanning two seasons and establishing him as a distinctive voice in the magazine’s lineup. Ikeda’s path into comics began with a passion for drawing and storytelling, leading him to develop a style that blends action, horror, and humor with a keen eye for character design and expressive, energetic paneling. His signature work, *Rosario + Vampire*, follows a human boy enrolled in a school for monsters, where he befriends a vampire girl; the series became a hit, spawning anime adaptations and a loyal readership. Ikeda collaborated closely with his editors and assistants to build the series’ world, but he remains its sole credited creator. Later in his career, he continued to work on *Rosario + Vampire Season II*, concluding the story in 2014. While he has not received major industry awards, his work’s enduring popularity among shonen fans cements his legacy as a creator who successfully fused monster mythology with school-life comedy. Ikeda’s influence persists through the series’ continued reprints and its place in early 2000s manga culture.
