Who is Yokozuna?

Yokozuna is the comics adaptation of the real-life WWE superstar, a massive Samoan-born sumo-style wrestler who competed as a villainous champion in the 1990s. This Boom! Studios incarnation recreates his imposing ring persona alongside other iconic WWE superstars.

Few comics bring the spectacle of professional wrestling to the page quite like the NBM universe of WWE comics, and Yokozuna is one of the larger-than-life presences gracing those panels. Debuting in WWE Superstars #9 in 2014, brought to life by creators Shane Riches and Paris Cullins, this Modern Age comics incarnation shares the page with some of the most iconic names in the genre — The Undertaker, John Cena, Kane, Paul Bearer, and Big Show. Across a handful of appearances spanning WWE Superstars, WWE, and the WWE: SummerSlam 2017 Special, Yokozuna holds court in genuinely storied company, making each appearance a treat for fans who love seeing wrestling legends rendered in vivid sequential art.
