Werner
Werner is a crude, motorcycle-obsessed young German slacker created by cartoonist Brösel, whose anarchic misadventures and blue-collar humor made him a beloved cult figure in German-language underground comics.
A scrappy Bronze Age original from the German-language underground, Werner burst onto the scene in 1981 courtesy of creator Brösel and the independent Semmel Verlach, carving out a cult corner of comics history far removed from the superhero mainstream. With a run through the 1980s and a dedicated series bearing his own name, this character earned a loyal following on his own irreverent terms. Six catalog appearances may sound modest, but for a homegrown European comics personality with this kind of staying power, every one of them counts.
