Venus
Venus is a main character from the Gerry Anderson puppet TV series Fireball XL5, featured in British comics anthology TV Century 21 from its very first issue. She serves aboard the spaceship Fireball XL5 as a doctor and love interest to Captain Steve Zodiac.
Launched in the very first issue of the landmark British comics anthology TV Century 21 back in 1965, Venus is a Silver Age character who arrived at the height of the UK's love affair with Gerry Anderson's science-fiction universes β and she's been part of that world ever since. Her 23-year publishing span across TV Century 21, Action 21, and the Fireball XL5 Annual speaks to a genuine staying power, keeping company with some of the most beloved figures in British comics including Steve Zodiac, Troy Tempest, and the incomparable Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward. Brought to life by writer Alan Fennell and artist Eric Eden in a debut issue that is itself a prized collector's artifact, Venus represents a vivid slice of that irresistible Silver Age moment when British comics were boldly reaching for the stars β and for any fan of classic UK comics, she's absolutely worth seeking out.
