Who is Vax'ildan?

Vax'ildan is a half-elf rogue and member of the adventuring party Vox Machina, twin brother to Vex'ahlia. Originally from the tabletop RPG actual-play series Critical Role, he appears in Dark Horse's comics adaptation exploring the group's early adventures together.

Born from the wildly popular actual-play phenomenon that took the gaming world by storm, Vax'ildan made his comics debut in Dark Horse's Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins #1 in 2018, brought to the page by the creative team of Matthew Colville, Matthew Mercer, and artist Olivia Samson. A Modern Age character with roots in a storytelling tradition unlike anything else in comics, he moves through these pages alongside a remarkable ensemble β€” Vex'ahlia, Grog, Scanlan, Keyleth, and the beloved bear Trinket β€” making the Vox Machina Origins series feel like an adventuring party in full swing. For fans of Critical Role eager to see the world of Exandria rendered in ink and color, Vax'ildan's comic appearances are an essential piece of that sprawling, beloved mythology.
