TV-Tane

Emerging from the early-1990s Finnish comics scene, TV-Tane made their debut in Myrkky #5/1992, a publication from Egmont Kustannus that ran through the mid-nineties and clearly had a taste for memorable, offbeat characters. Over a modest but spirited run across Myrkky and its special edition Myrkky spesiaali, TV-Tane shares the page with a wonderfully eccentric cast — Pera Pervo, Kokonainen, Puolikas, Palle Runqvist, and Päätoimittaja — suggesting a world with real comic personality to spare. Nine catalog appearances may be a compact legacy, but the fact that one of them carries key-issue status means collectors have taken notice. For fans of Copper/Modern Age Scandinavian comics with a distinctly Finnish flavor, TV-Tane is a charming little discovery worth tracking down.
