Who is Toto?

Toto is Dorothy Gale's loyal dog and faithful companion in Marvel's comic adaptations of L. Frank Baum's Oz stories, adventuring alongside Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion through the magical land of Oz.

Toto is one of comics' most enduring four-legged icons, debuting way back in 1939 during the Golden Age in The Funnies #38 and going on to share pages with the likes of Dorothy Gale, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion across a remarkable publishing span stretching all the way to 2015. This loyal companion's comic adventures have found a home most prominently in Marvel's Oz: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Land of Oz, placing a beloved piece of classic fantasy squarely within the House of Ideas. It's a delightful surprise to find Toto rubbing shoulders β€” in the catalog, at least β€” with Iron Man, a crossover of worlds that only comics could pull off. For collectors with a soft spot for Golden Age curiosities and Oz adaptations alike, Toto is a charming thread connecting nearly eight decades of sequential art.
