The Machine
The Machine is a street-level vigilante character from Dark Horse's Comics' Greatest World shared universe, operating in the brutal, industrial enclave of Steel Harbor alongside hard-edged figures like Barb Wire and Motorhead.
Steel Harbor has always attracted the hardest-edged characters in the Dark Horse universe, and The Machine is no exception β a Copper/Modern Age creation who burst onto the scene in 1993 courtesy of Mike Richardson and Lee Weeks. Born from Dark Horse's ambitious Comics' Greatest World initiative, this figure carved out a niche in the gritty Steel Harbor corner of that shared universe, sharing pages with the likes of Barb Wire, Motorhead, and Breaker. The run was brief but concentrated, and with only a handful of appearances across titles like Comics' Greatest World: Motorhead and Comics' Greatest World: Barb Wire, every issue The Machine shows up in feels like a genuine collector's find from one of the more underappreciated world-building experiments of the early '90s.
