Who is Tío Emo?

Tío Emo made his debut in the pages of El Víbora #26 in 1982, brought to life by the irreverent duo of Shelton and Dave Sheridan for Ediciones La Cúpula — the Barcelona-based publisher that made El Víbora one of the great underground-flavored comics anthologies of the Spanish Bronze Age. Sharing those anarchic pages with a colorful cast including El Niñato, Comisario Loperena, and the wonderfully named Taxista Cuatroplazas, Tío Emo inhabits a world that crackles with the countercultural energy El Víbora was famous for channeling. A rare find with only a handful of catalog appearances, he's a genuine curio for collectors drawn to the wilder, more adventurous corners of early-'80s European comics.
