T.N.T.
Thomas N. Thomas was a chemistry teacher who, alongside his student Dan the Dyna-Mite, gained explosive super-powers through special contact rings — when the two touched hands, they unleashed tremendous energy, making them an unlikely but effective Golden Age crime-fighting duo.
Explosive by name and Golden Age by birth, T.N.T. burst onto the scene in World's Finest Comics #5 in 1942, conjured by the legendary duo of Bill Finger and Bob Kane at the height of comics' founding era. This DC hero carved out a niche across titles like Star Spangled Comics and All-Star Squadron, sharing pages with some of the most iconic figures in the publisher's history — Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, and Robotman among them. With two key collector issues to their name and a presence that echoes all the way through to DC Universe: Legacies in 2012, T.N.T. is a testament to the enduring magnetism of the Golden Age — a character whose roughly seventy-year footprint in the DC universe rewards any fan willing to dig into the rich, pulpy soil where it all began.
