Sapphire
Sapphire is a mysterious, seemingly ageless operative who works alongside her partner Steel to investigate and contain dangerous anomalies in time. She first appeared in the British comic adaptation of the ITV television series, published in Look-In magazine in 1979.
Emerging from the pages of Look-In β the beloved British "Junior TV Times" β Sapphire made her Bronze Age debut in 1979, brought to life by Angus P. Allan and Bill Titcombe for ITV's comics arm. With 76 catalog appearances concentrated across a lively 1979β1981 run, she carved out a genuine niche in that wonderfully eclectic weekly, sharing its pages with the likes of Worzel Gummidge, Buck Rogers, Wilma Deering, Steve Austin, and even Elvis Presley β as gloriously varied a roster of co-stars as you'll find anywhere in comics. Collectors take note: at least one of her appearances carries key-issue status, making her a rewarding quarry for anyone with a soft spot for the rich, distinctly British corner of the Bronze Age.
