Who is Rapier?
Sharp-edged and dangerous, Rapier cut onto the Marvel scene in 1986 courtesy of the legendary Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary in Captain America #319 — a Copper Age debut in one of Marvel's most storied titles. Though the catalog counts only a handful of appearances, they're meaningful ones, including a role in Captain America: Scourge of the Underworld, a storyline that looms large in Marvel lore. Rapier keeps notably gritty company — Hijacker, Vamp, Shellshock, and others who populated the shadowy corners of the Marvel Universe — making this a character firmly rooted in the street-level, morally complex world that defined so much of that era's Captain America storytelling. A rare find for Gruenwald completists and fans of the Scourge saga.
