Who is Prodigal?

Peter David and Larry Stroman introduced Prodigal to Marvel readers in 1992's X-Factor #81, launching this character into the thick of one of the Copper Age's most celebrated mutant titles. Over a publishing history that stretches nearly three decades, Prodigal has kept remarkable company — sharing pages with the likes of Alex Summers, Multiple Man, and Quicksilver across the fan-favorite Peter David run that's since been enshrined in both X-Factor Epic Collection and X-Factor Visionaries: Peter David. That last volume is a real badge of honor, collecting some of the most critically beloved superhero storytelling of the era, and the fact that Prodigal appears within it makes this a character worth seeking out for any serious X-completist. Eighteen catalog appearances across nearly thirty years tell a quiet story of staying power in a corner of the Marvel Universe that fans never stop revisiting.
