Who is Pop Tate 3000?

A far-future counterpart of Pop Tate, the iconic Riverdale malt-shop owner, reimagined in a sci-fi setting where Archie and the gang are transported to the year 3000. He fills the same familiar role for the futuristic crew.

A futuristic spin on one of Riverdale's most beloved fixtures, Pop Tate 3000 made his debut in Archie 3000 #1 in 1989 — part of Archie Comics' playful leap into a far-flung tomorrow, where familiar faces got a sci-fi makeover for the Copper Age. Created by Rex W. Lindsey, he shares his corner of the cosmos with the likes of Archie 3000, Betty 3000, Veronica 3000, and the rest of the gang transported into the future. His appearances across digest titles like Archie's Pals 'n' Gals Double Digest and Laugh Digest Magazine kept him circulating through the years, a small but enduring piece of one of comics' most inventive what-if concepts.
