Who is Pateta?

Pateta is the Brazilian Portuguese name for Goofy, Disney's beloved clumsy everyman. In this context he appeared in Editora Abril's Brazilian Marvel anthology alongside both superheroes and fellow Disney characters like Pato Donald (Donald Duck).

Pateta made their comics debut in 1982's Superaventuras Marvel #2, stepping onto the page in a Bronze Age Brazilian publication from Editora Abril that brought together a wonderfully eclectic cast — sharing adventures alongside the likes of Demolidor, Matt Murdock, Conan, and Pato Donald. Spread across Superaventuras Marvel and Suplemento Juvenil, this is a character rooted in the distinctive flavor of Brazilian Marvel publishing, where superhero action and beloved classic characters rubbed shoulders in the same pages. With creative contributions from Roger McKenzie, Frank Miller, and Jotapê Martins on that debut, Pateta enters the catalog with serious pedigree behind them. A niche but genuine piece of Bronze Age Brazilian comics history, well worth a look for collectors drawn to the rich world of international Marvel editions.
