Pärre-setä
Pärre-setä made their comics debut in the pages of Myrkky spesiaali #1 in 1997, brought to life by the celebrated British cartoonist Hunt Emerson for Egmont Kustannus's Finnish underground-flavored anthology scene. This is a character rooted firmly in the irreverent late-Copper/Modern Age spirit of Myrkky and its special editions — publications with a gleefully offbeat sensibility all their own. Across their appearances, Pärre-setä keeps wonderfully eccentric company, sharing pages with characters like Firkin, Halukas Hellu, and Myyntimies Mynttinen, a roster that hints at the anarchic, character-rich world these Finnish comics inhabited. A rare find with only five catalog appearances spread across a brief 1997–1999 window, Pärre-setä is exactly the kind of cult curiosity that makes digging through Nordic comics history such a rewarding adventure.
